PREREQUISITE: ASA101
Upon completion of the ASA 105 Coastal Navigation class, students will be able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. This course teaches the skills that are essential for all mariners. The class is intended for home study. No prior boating experience or navigation skills are required. The Sailboat Shop instructor will give a one hour overview. Additional tutoring is available as necessary. A navigational exam will be administered by the Sailboat Shop following completion of the course.

Price includes written test, book/charts and ASA Certification fees.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR LESSON:

Sailboat shop will mail you the book/course materials. Bring all materials, navigation tools, calculator, notebook and pencil.

Instructor will provide you with start time.

THE DAY OF YOUR TEST:

Please be on time.

Test takes between 5-7 hours.

UPON COMPLETION OF COURSE:

When you pass the course, the instructor will contact ASA with verification. ASA will send you the official 105 certification sticker.

If you do not pass, you will have up to one year from date of course completion to retake test, free of charge.
Gratuity is always appreciated, but not required.

All sales are final. Lessons may be rescheduled up to 72 hours prior to appointment.
If weather conditions are unsafe, Sailboat Shop will contact you to reschedule free of charge.

There is no designated age minimum, but we recommend ages 16 and up, due to the physical requirements.
